Dear F&M Students:

Congratulations as you complete your spring semester and begin to decompress a bit from your online studies. We recognize that this has been a challenging end to the year but hope you will mark the completion with some small celebration virtually or in person with family, friends or on your own. You’ve managed a great deal in these last couple of weeks and we are all proud of your resilience, tenacity and strong Diplomat spirit.

During what would normally be Senior Week and move-out, Lancaster County is still in the RED PHASE OF PENNSYLVANIA COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS.

“The red phase has the sole purpose of minimizing the spread of COVID-19 through strict social distancing, non-life sustaining business, school closures, and building safety protocols.” https://www.governor.pa.gov/process-to-reopen-pennsylvania/

**Stay at home orders remain in place.

**Large gatherings prohibited.

**Schools closed.

What does this mean for us? The College remains closed so there is no access to campus buildings without prior consent. If you plan to gather in person, you must do so in very small groups with social distancing practices in place. The College is enforcing Pennsylvania’s directives and, because these types of behaviors endanger the safety of the community, may impose immediate disciplinary action, including interim suspensions, for violations on and off campus.

CLASS OF 2020 CELEBRATIONS

The College looks forward to the formal commencement ceremony of the Class of 2020 come December. In the meantime, we hope you will enjoy and take advantage of the various virtual celebrations and activities during the coming week. While it may be tempting to gather in person here in Lancaster to mark this special occasion with your friend groups, the reality of COVID-19 and its continued spread by asymptomatic people continues. Please do not risk the health and safety of our fellow students, employees, Lancaster healthcare workers and emergency responders by ignoring Pennsylvania state restrictions regarding social gatherings at this time. Everyone’s adherence to these guidelines is essential for the good of the F&M community and our Lancaster neighbors.

MOVE OUT INFORMATION

Students who reside in college-owned housing will receive move out information on Monday. Our process will take place over several weeks to ensure the safety of our students and staff as we adhere to social distancing and health safety protocols during this process.

Students who reside in college-approved housing should have received information from their property manager about move out timelines. Please contact your property manager directly if you have questions about your move out requirements. While Lancaster County remains in the Red Phase of COVID-19 restrictions, colleges and universities have been given guidance on how to allow for carefully managed move out procedures during this time.

Again, we congratulate you as you complete the 2019-2020 academic year. We wish you good health as you transition to the summer break and, to the Class of 2020, to your new status as alumni.

Be well and be safe!  — Dean Hazlett
