[For Local Students] URGENT – Delayed Test Results

Unfortunately we have yet to receive test results from the ASFC testing on Tuesday and Wednesday.  We are attempting to get an answer from the logistics company as to the problem and when we can expect results but unfortunately this is completely out of our control.  I realize that this is a huge frustration for all and potentially impacts travel plans for some.

If your plan is to leave campus prior to having your result PLEASE act as if you are potentially positive,(all of us are potentially asymptomatic positives) and that everyone around you is positive.  Be diligent about mask wearing and maintaining the 6 ft distance between yourself and others.  Wash your hands frequently.

If you are having any symptoms; fever, body aches, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, PLEASE do not get on public transportation of any kind until you are checked.

As soon as we have the results, our priority will be to reach out to anyone who tests positive.  How quickly we can do this will be completely dependent on the overall numbers.

Be on the lookout for future emails.  We will be sending an email to all identified close contacts so that you have some general information prior to receiving a call.  Again, we will make every effort to call, but depending on numbers this could be difficult to do in a timely fashion.

Regardless of a negative test result, I would encourage everyone to maintain some distance from family when arriving home, at least for the first week.  A negative test this week does not ensure a negative test next week especially if there is any travel through public spaces.

Stay safe and have a good break.

Sincerely,

Dr. Myers
