On Thursday, Feb. 5, the Writer’s House held an editing and writing panel featuring three distinguished editors. The editors – Shuchi Saraswat (F&M class of ‘05), Brianna Di Monda and Billy Lennon – answered questions regarding their professions and how they entered into the editing field.

Shuchi Saraswat is senior editor of AGNI magazine and founder of the Transnational Literary Series at Brookline Booksmith, a reading series focused on themes of migration, works in translation, and the intersection of politics and literature. Brianna Di Monda is the editor-in-chief of the Cleveland Review of Books and is a recipient of the Glenna Luschei Award for fiction. Billy Lennon is the founding editor and publisher of the Cleveland Review of Books and his writing has appeared in The DriftParis Review, and Bookforum.

The editors answered questions pertaining to their experience with the interaction between writing and editing, their day-to-day tasks/schedules and how they bring their aesthetics and vision into their work. There was also a chance for students to ask questions, in which the panelists gave advice to student writers for submitting and pitching stories to publications.

This event, along with other Writer’s House events, provided students with the opportunity to gain knowledge about the publishing industry.
