This past week, F&M Players presented Life is Pandemonium! A Broadway Revue, an annual show presented in the Green Room Theatre. The production was directed by Luci Lantos ’12 and Kristen O’Sullivan ’12 and had a cast of over 50 student performers, including both experienced members and newcomers.

As the title indicates, the production presented pieces from a mixture of different musicals including “Footloose” from Footloose, “It’s the Hard Knock Life” from Annie, and “You Can’t Stop the Beat” from Hairspray. Each scene offered a diversity of presenters, from soloists to full cast features.

The overall production was a big hit drawing in an electric, house-filling crowd. There were many laughs from the enthusiastic crowd throughout the show. In one of the more comical scenes, “Pandemonium” from 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, the cast surprised the audience when they invited Dan Porterfield, president of the College, to join them on stage to take part in the pandemonium. In another scene the directors, Lantos and O’Sullivan, broke out in a comedic song and dance from “Secondary Characters” from [Title of Show]. Both of these scenes were very well-received by the audience.

The music choices represented different genres and styles, such as old time classics “Edelweiss” from Sound of Music and “Good Morning” from Singing in the Rain, to more recent upbeat works like “It Sucks To Be Me” from Avenue Q and “Positive” from Legally Blonde. Not only was the music enjoyable, but Corinne Littlefield ’13 provided each hit with well-timed choreography. The costumes and props were also well designed and planned.

Each aspect of the show set the scene for each song even without any actual scenery. The music was only enhanced with the side stage aid of pianists Jackie Sager ’13, Dan Paladini ’14, and Kelsey Kreyche ’15. This performance truly showed the hard work and dedication from the all student run organization.

The performance ended with a bang as the directors shot confetti at the audience towards the end of a high-energy, full cast performance of “You Can’t Stop the Beat.” The performance was very well-received as exhibited by the audience’s enthusiasm, energy, and support throughout each scene.
