Parents and Diplomat fans gathered at rainy Shadek Stadium, home of the Franklin and Marshall College Diplomats, cheering on the men’s lacrosse team as they took on the Muhlenberg Mules. The Diplomats have been on a nine-game winning streak with impressive victories against Haverford, McDanel, and Sewanee, among others. Their streak came to a close when the Diplomats fell to the Mules, 9-3.

The Diplomats were held off from scoring until the fourth quarter. The first quarter saw the Diplomats not scoring, but with the Mules scoring one point. The Mules extended their lead in the second quarter, scoring four times, bringing their total to five points at halftime. The Mules scored once again in the third quarter, bringing their total to six points, but the Diplomats still had nothing.

Mason Montrella ‘27 finally got F&M on the scoreboard. He connected with Preston Blue ‘28 during the final quarter to score. The Mules continued to extend their lead, scoring three more goals, but Eli Crystal ‘28 scored twice more in the final two minutes of the game, finalizing the score 9-3.

Goalie Teddy Scarborough ‘27, who has been named Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week three times this season, made 14 saves.

Caroline Labb ‘28, a first-time viewer of Diplomats Lacrosse, said, “The crowd was super energetic and it was awesome to see them being so supportive of our team despite the loss.”

An anonymous attendee commented, “I thought we were good. The first lax game I go to and we’re dog shit.”

Men’s lacrosse remains tied with Dickinson for second place in the conference standings as they go into the final two weeks of the regular season. The Diplomats are back on the road this week as they compete at Dickinson on April 16th and Swarthmore on April 19, before returning home to play Gettysburg on April 26th.
