Students, faculty, and staff came out to DipSync, hosted by Chi Omega and Kappa Sigma in Mayser Gymnasium, Thursday.

David Stameshkin, former associate dean and prefect of Bonchek College House, helped MC the event, which featured performers ranging from a single Chi Phi pledge to this year’s winner, IMPACT.

The lineup for the night was loaded with talent and hilarious fun. Groups of people signed up as teams of performers to dance and lip-sync a song of their choice.

At random intervals the MCs held raffles with food from Rosa Rosa, Sugar Bowl, and various other locations. Froze n’ Yo Café frozen yogurt was sold at the back of the gym.

Highlights of the night were the Phi Kappa Psi pledges with a choreographed dance to ’NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” and the Kappa pledges’ performance, in which a member happened to fall off the stage while “backing it up” and reel in his friend who was doing the worm. F&M Tour Guides, Alpha Phi, and a number of other organizations also had teams compete.

This year’s winners consisted of the following: fourth place, the F&M track team; third place, the Kappa Delta team; second place, the F&M Dance team; and coming in first, the IMPACT team. The finale of IMPACT, a well-timed flip off the stage, definitely contributed to the organization’s win.

Every year the sisters of Chi Omega host this competition. The proceeds will be going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a foundation started in 1980 that enriches the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded after a little boy realized his wish to become a police officer. Since then, the organization has turned into a worldwide phenomenon, reaching over 250,000 children around the world. Even though the foundation has grown very large, boasting over 25,000 volunteers, it still needs volunteers like the sisters of Chi Omega to help serve as wish granters and fundraisers.

This event was open to everyone on campus for only five dollars and brought people together for some good, old-fashioned entertainment.

The costumes turned out to be a talking point of the evening. The F&M Dance team wore costumes inspired by Burlesque, while Phi Sigma Pi sported nerd outfits.

DipSync brought the campus together to laugh, entertain, and show off its talent — all for a good cause.
