Hosting a grand opening on November 13th, the newest storefront for Denim Coffee has arrived at 221 West King Street! Located close to Central Market and the Fulton Theatre, Denim Coffee boasts a calm ambience with contrasting light blue and dark navy walls.

A paired down menu to emphasize quality drinks, and assist those who find it absolutely disastrous when making a decision.

Abstract art by local artist adorns the walls, along with a simplistic but demanding statement:

Make Better Coffee.

I visited the Monday before they opened for a soft-launch VIP and was able to order a chai, as well as briefly meet the owners and sample a selection of pastries that may be incorporated into the menu. Selecting a sugar corn cookie, slightly less sweet but more structurally stable and flavorful than it’s Lofthouse counterpart, and a caramel pecan brownie, richly chocolatey with salty undertones from the pecans, both sweets went nicely with the chai that was an excellent balance of spice and sugar, though emphasizing the latter flavor palate more.

Thus, everything was immediately munched.

For Franklin & Marshall students, and perhaps faculty who also want a sweet treat while they “work,” Denim Coffee offers a strong and reliable WiFi signal. Although the cafe is slightly off the beaten path, this could be considered a strength if one doesn’t want to see everyone they have ever known, and perhaps some people they hoped to never see again.
