Coming in cold off the press, more snow is predicted for this weekend! As of today, more than 12 inches is considered “likely,” and the Global Forecast System predicts 16 inches! As the esteemed College Reporter News Editor, Milind Gavankar, said, “That is a lot of snow.” In fact, it may be the most snow the area has gotten since 2018! The storm will hit New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and DC with snow and frigid temperatures, and roads have the potential to be hazardous. In his email to the F&M community addressing the snowstorm, President Rich wrote the storm “will create dangerous conditions.” Additionally, the risk of power outages is moderate as high winds sweep the region.

Now, I’m sure you’re all thinking, “but how will this specifically affect me, a lowly little F&M student?” Have no fear! The College Reporter is here with your curated news. First off: wondering which classes you might get to skip? The snow is expected to last from Sunday morning through Monday morning, so the conditions on Monday (at least in the first half of the day) will probably be less than ideal for getting around campus. Also, keep an eye on your email Friday! If weather forecasting models continue to show significant snow accumulation, Shawn Curtin, the VP of Finance and Operations, will be sharing an update Friday on changes to the F&M schedule. Major weather services will also be posting their final storm predictions that day, and many professors may announce individual schedule changes then as well.  So, cancel your Sunday plans, get your sleds ready for trips to DHall and, most importantly, stay warm!
