After its major success in 2022, Netflix’s Wednesday series – starring Jenna Ortega – came back with a bang for season two. With the first four episodes premiering in August and the last four being released almost a month later, the hype and anticipation were definitely used to the show’s advantage.

The season begins with the students of Nevermore returning to school after summer break, with Wednesday becoming a sort of celebrity after the events of last season. Her younger brother, Pugsley, is starting his first year at Nevermore to add on to that. The return of Enid, Bianca, Ajax, Eugene, and the rest of the Addams family brings a sense of comfort as new characters, including Principal Dort, Isadora Capri, Bruno Yusson, and Agnes Demille, are introduced.

Fans might have noticed that a main character in season one – Xavier Thorpe, played by Percy Hynes White – was not present in the second season. His absence is explained in the first episode as his father pulling him from the school and sending him somewhere else. White’s absence, on the other hand, involves sexual misconduct allegations that he claims to be false. No formal investigation was conducted, though, and there is no confirmation that these allegations are the reason his character is not present this season. Though Xavier was a character that many fans loved, his absence did allow Wednesday to break out of the love triangle between herself, Xavier, and Tyler Galpin that was present in season one.

This season, instead, focuses a lot more on Wednesday’s family and their dynamics. With her grandmother as a major character, her issues with her mother causing problems in her psychic ability, and secrets between everyone being revealed, Wednesday has a lot on her plate when it comes to the other members of the Addams family – and that’s without even mentioning Pugsley’s own adventures at Nevermore that end up taking a few lives along the way.

Some plot lines from the first season continue in this one – like Enid’s werewolf journey, Tyler’s status as a Hyde, Bianca’s association with the Morning Song cult, etc. But some new plots are added as well, including some mind-controlled crows, a brain-eating zombie, and more. So it’s safe to say that viewers won’t be bored as they watch everything unfold.

The season ends by setting up various storylines to be explored in the next season, which has already been confirmed but does not yet have a release date.

Overall, Wednesday fans have a lot to talk about after season two, and there is likely to be much theorizing between now and season three’s anticipated release in the next few years.
