She’s creepy and she’s kooky, mysterious and spooky, and she’s back for a second season!

I’m talking about Wednesday Addams, of course. In 2022, Netflix released the first season of Wednesday, a series inspired by The Addams Family that follows Wednesday, played by Jenna Ortega, as she attends Nevermore Academy. Season 1 was a huge hit, but due to the Hollywood writers’ strikes, fans have had to wait years to see their favorite daughter of Gomez and Morticia return to the screen. Now, the wait is finally almost over, with the second season set to be released this summer.

Some hints about the second season have already been dropped, giving fans a taste of what to expect. The official trailer reveals the mystery of the new season, showing how Wednesday experiences a psychic vision of Enid’s (Emma Myers) death, and must try to stop the demise of her popular and peppy werewolf roommate. In addition to the trailer, the first six minutes of Season 2, Episode 1 were revealed at the Netflix Tudum 2025 live event. The clip begins with Wednesday tied up in a serial killer’s basement, sitting at a table with a tea party of haunted dolls modeled after his victims. It then flashes back to six weeks earlier to explain how she got there, showing a clip of a young Wednesday teaching her class about her favorite serial killer, the Kansas City Scalper, at show and tell. The setting then shifts to the airport, where we see a comical scene of Wednesday going through security, where she is forced to turn in an assortment of weapons. After being tied up, Wednesday unleashes her severed hand pal Thing, who attacks the serial killer. The clip ends on a suspenseful note, with Wednesday preparing to plunge a knife into the Kansas City Scalper.

Some of the things fans have to look forward to in Season 2 include a deeper dive into Wednesday’s relationships with her family, as well as some exciting guest appearances. Since Season 1 ended with students leaving Nevermore with their families for vacation, expect to see more of Gomez (Luis Guzman) and Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) in Season 2. Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen), who appeared in a few episodes of the first season, is also expected to make a comeback. Another member of the Addams family will also be appearing in the show. Joanna Lumley will be joining the cast as Grandmama, who is expected to become a loveable, fan-favorite character. Along with these beloved characters of The Addams Family fame, some new stars are joining the cast to play new original roles. These include Lady Gaga, who will be playing a teacher at Nevermore, and Steve Buschemi as the school’s new principal.

From the trailers and the six-minute clip, Season 2 promises to be filled with even more elements of horror. Many fans are excited to see that the new season is continuing to take on the macabre influence of creator Tim Burton that make the show so unique, rather than turning into a teenage romance drama. Fans are happy to see this greater focus on horror than romance, since it promises that the dark and quirky teenager we have come to know and love will be returning. Wednesday made it pretty clear that she wasn’t interested in anything to do with love in Season 1, and the hints that have been offered about Season 2 are consistent with her character. The airport scene at the beginning of the first episode also promises that there will be more comical moments to come, like Wednesday’s iconic dance that went viral back in 2022.

The first part of Season 2 will be released on Netflix August 6, 2025, and the second part will be released on September 3.
